Fine jewelry is made to be worn, and a little care keeps it beautiful for generations.
Everyday wear
- Put your jewelry on last, after lotions, perfume and hairspray.
- Take it off for the gym, swimming, gardening, cleaning and sleep.
- Keep it away from chlorine and household chemicals, which can damage gold and dull stones.
Cleaning
Soak diamond and gold pieces for a few minutes in warm water with a drop of mild dish soap, then brush gently with a soft toothbrush, especially behind the stones, where lotion and soap build up. Rinse and pat dry with a soft, lint-free cloth.
Blackened settings
Many C. Disston settings use black rhodium-plated platinum to echo the aged silver of Georgian jewels. The finish softens with wear over time, which many people love. If you'd rather restore it, it can be refreshed.
Antique and colored stones
Opals, pearls, enamel and many colored stones are softer or more delicate than diamonds. Don't soak them or use ultrasonic or steam cleaners. Wipe them with a soft, damp cloth instead, and keep pearls away from perfume and hairspray.
Storage
Store each piece separately in a soft pouch or a lined box so harder stones don't scratch softer ones, and fasten chains to keep them from tangling.
Check-ups
Have your jewelry looked over once a year to make sure prongs and settings are secure, especially on rings you wear every day. Every piece carries a one-year warranty for repairs. Get in touch if anything needs attention.
